Graphic Imaging Technology I

Graphic Imaging Technology II will prepare students for a career in the graphic communications industry. Students will gain knowledge and practice their skills in digital file preparation and output, type, page-layout, graphics, photo imaging, color management, and illustration.

Graphic Imaging Technology II

Graphic Imaging Technology I will introduce students to the graphic communications industry. Students will explore digital file preparation, image capture, color theory, digital file output, press operations, and bindery operations. Students will practice workplace safety and develop skills in measurement, mathematical problem solving, interpersonal communication, and the job application process.


Both courses include contextual instruction and student participation in co-curricular career and technical student organization (CTSO) activities will develop leadership, interpersonal, and career skills. High-quality work-based learning (HQWBL) will provide experiential learning opportunities related to students' career goals and/or interests, integrated with instruction, and performed in partnership with local businesses and organizations.

Jeffrey Taylor has been teaching Graphic Communications at Richmond Technical Center since 2020. With a passion for Visual Art, he strives to create an engaging and supportive learning environment for all students.

He received his Degree in Communications Arts & Design from Virginia Commonwealth University. He also received a Commission as an Officer through the ARMY ROTC program at University of Richmond and attained the rank of 1st. Lieutenant after leaving active duty in the Army . 

Jeff started his teaching career in Correctional Education in 1993 as a Vocational Instructor teaching Graphic Arts and Screen-printing. He started working at Richmond Public Schools in 1996 as a Violence Prevention and Truancy Intervention Specialist. Jeff coordinated the Peer Mediation Program and STARS program at Henderson Middle School for eleven years.

In addition to teaching, Jeff was recognized as the Entrepreneur of the year in 2012 by Altria for his work in corporate learning. Jeff has appeared in Black Enterprise Magazine’s B. E. Top 100 Businesses. Jeff is also a recognized Expert in State and Federal Court. He has worked with the famous Johnny Cochran Firm, Attorney Ben Crump and many other law firms to demonstrate testimony in high stakes Criminal  court cases since 2003. Jeff has conducted Continuing Legal Education classes to Bar Association lawyers nationwide on the subject of admissible forensic visual evidence.

Jeff is a former board member of the City of Richmond’s Department of Minority Business and a graduate of the City’s Citizen’s Police Academy. 

Jeff is dedicated to preparing students for their future careers. He integrates real-world skills into the curriculum, focusing on critical thinking and problem solving. He also emphasizes the importance of technology to help students understand and compete in various career paths.
