Welding I
This course is required by a wide variety of industries—anywhere fusible materials and high heat are needed to manufacture, repair, or alter tools and products. Professional welders are in high demand and can earn accordingly. Students in Welding I are taught to use manual welding, cutting, and electrical arc welding processes to fabricate and join metal parts according to diagrams, blueprints, and specifications. Students will also learn all safety-related practices and techniques, including earning the OSHA 10 card.
Welding II
Teaches advanced welding students how to fine-tune their craft and to perform welds in various positions, using multiple welding processes. Students prepare to pass relevant industry certifications. Welding is required by a wide variety of industries—anywhere fusible materials and high heat are needed to manufacture, repair, or alter products. Professional welders are in high-demand and can earn accordingly.

Mr. Ekstrom has been teaching Welding at RTC since 1993. With a passion for Welding, he strives to create a challenging and engaging class that mimics the real world. He received training and certifications in the Welding field from RTC, and he holds multiple AWS Certifications including pipe and structural welding and various metals.
In addition to teaching day school, Mr. Ekstrom also teaches night school at RTC and at a local community college. He believes in the importance of safety in the shop, staying busy and being good to one another.
Mr. Ekstrom is dedicated to preparing students for their future careers. He integrates real-world skills into the curriculum, focusing on safety, using multiple power tools, and having students experience welding situations that occur on the job site. His students are prepared to take AWS Welding Certifications. He also emphasizes the importance of career exploration, internships, and connections with local businesses/organizations to help students understand various career paths.
